Concerts for kids
,,Every child is an artist.
The problem is how to remain artist once we grow up.”
Pablo Picasso
For years, I have been contemplating a form of performance that reproduces the mental landscape of children with the help of music and other genres of arts. A performance focusing on classical music, in particular, chamber music, the joyful communication with one other, the existence of which is so crucial in our everyday life as well.
The year 2015 saw the launch of a chamber music festival at the Franz Liszt Music Academy under the creative control of myself and my husband, pianist Dénes Várjon. The Kamara.hu festival is held in November each year.
Having an opportunity to realise this dream for a children’s concert for the first time was a great pleasure for me. The performance earned a reputation, and has been held entertain the children at many other venues since the festival.
Every child is a “total artist”, as music, drawing, dancing, tales, poems, and stories form organic parts of their everyday life, giving birth to the games of their imagination.
This is why my goal is to create a world on the stage where they encounter the same things interpreted in the language of arts, with a different story in the core of the performance each time. It makes children feel at home in the concert hall, and involves them in this incredible magical world with no real dividing line between the stage and the audience.
